THERE IS A TOUCH OF UNIQUENESS IN YOU!- BY SAKEENAH' WRITES

 

Last week, I had the honor of being the second keynote speaker for a new year virtual personal development program designed for youths. With over a year of coaching experience and a commitment to delivering value wherever I go, I'm accustomed to receiving encouraging and even emotionally persuasive comments – I humorously call them "emotionally blackmailing" comments, acknowledging the strength it takes not to succumb😂. 

As a value-driven content writer and coach, I've grown accustomed to positive feedback. However, the sheer volume of comments and questions from this session left me astonished. After taking a moment to absorb the overwhelming response, I regained my balance. Towards the event's conclusion, the host posed an unexpected question. As a coach always prepared for surprises, and while expressing immense joy at witnessing the positive impact I've made in their lives, I responded "I appreciate that most of you didn't take my time and spit for granted. That is enough motivation for me or any coach who seeks to have a positive impact on the lives of people. However, despite your admiration for what I do and the desire to emulate certain good qualities you have observed in me, I urge you all not to strive to be a replica of me, because you will achieve nothing in the end.

It's normal to look up to me as a mentor, big sister, or coach, but no matter what, please do not ever try to be a replica of me or any other personality you admire. We your coaches and mentors are there to inspire you to become a better version of yourself through our words and actions, so, please, instead of fervently trying to mimic me or any other role model or celebrity you admire, channel your energy into discovering your unique potentials. Focus on becoming a better version of YOU, because there is a TOUCH of UNIQUENESS in EVERY ONE of YOU that URGENTLY needs to be DISCOVERED AND LEVERAGED UPON.
